Relevance Ranks sort investors by how well they fit your company and your upcoming round. They reflect what Metal knew when they were last updated. A refresh ranks every investor again using what Metal knows today.

Why refresh

Sharper ranks

The investors at the top are the ones that fit you best now, not when your ranks were last updated.

Latest investor activity

Investors who have recently backed companies like yours can rank higher.

Your latest context

Changes to your company and round details, and what Metal has learned about your company since, are taken into account.

When to refresh

Refresh when something happens that could change who fits you best:
  • Metal recommends it. You’ll see a note when you hover over a rank, and under Relevance Ranks in Settings.
  • You upload a new pitch deck or financial model.
  • You’ve had a lot of email back and forth with investors, and your inbox is connected to Metal.
  • You add or update your existing investors.
  • You change your Company Details or Upcoming Round Details, such as your stage, sector or round size.
  • You’re about to build a new list of investors to reach out to.

How to refresh

  1. Open Settings, then Relevance Ranks.
  2. Click Refresh now and confirm. This uses one of your refreshes.
Before you refresh, check that your Company Details and Upcoming Round Details under Settings → Fundraising Configs are current. Your ranks are only as sharp as what Metal knows about your company.

What to expect

  • A refresh usually takes about 5 minutes. Your current ranks stay in place while it runs, and you can follow progress under Relevance Ranks in Settings.
  • When it’s done, you’ll see a note if you started the refresh, and the new ranks appear in Investor Search and your pipeline for everyone on your team.
  • Expect some movement. Investors can go up or down, and some may enter or drop out of your ranks. If little has changed since your last refresh, your ranks may barely move.
  • Refreshes are shared by your team and reset on a regular cycle. Settings shows how many you have left and when they reset.
  • One refresh runs at a time.
  • A failed refresh doesn’t count against your refreshes.
If your team hasn’t run Relevance Ranks yet, the first run works the same way and uses one refresh.
