AI Search is the fastest way to build a target list from 30,000+ active investors. Describe the investor you’re looking for and Metal applies the right filters for you, or set the filters yourself when you want full control. Either way, every result carries a Relevance Rank for your Company, so the strongest fits rise to the top.
Across thousands of raises, we have learned that empirically determining your “most likely” investors is the highest-impact activity in a raise, and Metal’s search capabilities and Relevance Ranks do that for you.Founders who prioritize their strongest-fit investors see higher intro opt-in rates and better first-to-second meeting conversion.

AI Search

Use natural language to describe your ideal investor profile and let Metal’s AI put in the right filters.

Custom Search

Build a custom search query using precision filters across stage, sector, geography, check size and more.
A good pattern is to start with natural language, then open the filters Metal applied and adjust them.
To use AI Search, click AI Search in the Investor Search toolbar, or type your query into the search bar at the top of any page. To set filters yourself, click Filter in the Investor Search page. A good pattern is to start with AI Search, then open Filter to review and adjust the filters Metal applied.

Example queries

“Seed investors backing B2B SaaS companies in Europe with a focus on vertical software”
“VCs who have led rounds in AI infrastructure for enterprise”
“Climate tech investors who write checks between $500K and $2M”
“Pre-seed funds that back technical founders building developer tools”
Use the Fundraising Configs toggle to control how personalized your results are. With it on, Metal combines your query with your saved Fundraising Configs (stage, sector, geography and check size), so results reflect your raise. With it off, Metal runs only on what you typed.

Precision Filters

Metal offers a broad set of precision filters that let you narrow your investor search based on specific criteria. You can configure these filters manually, or let our AI leverage the same filters to intelligently refine your search and identify the investors most relevant to your fundraising goals.

Filter types

Running the same search often? Save your filters with Saved Filters in the Investor Search toolbar, and apply them again in one click.

Working with Results

Your results appear in a table that you can sort, filter further, and customize by adding or removing columns. Every investor shows a Relevance Rank, such as Top 5%. Click it to open the Fit Overview and see what is driving the match. Click any investor to open their profile for more depth, including portfolio history, thesis, round entry behavior and intro paths. To start tracking an investor, use Add to Pipeline from the table or their profile.
Don’t filter too aggressively at the start. Aim for a broad list of 50 to 150 investors, then narrow it down using Relevance, profiles and intro paths. Cutting on a single criterion too early removes strong candidates.

Use AI Search alongside Market Signals, New Funds and Similar Companies to build a multi-signal list of the investors most likely to back you.
