Existing investors are the second most common channel through which founders land introductions with new investors.

Direct Connections of Existing Investors

Most investors have a large and well-connected network of VCs that are a part of their active referral network. On a given investor profile, founders can navigate to Intelligence > Investments > Co-Investors. This table shows the most common co-investors for a given investor and can be used to infer which investors they can introduce you with:

Portfolio Founders of Existing Investors

Most venture investors have invested in a large portfolio of companies. These companies have raised capital from a broad array of investors. On the Metal platform, the following is one of the most common workflows used by founders to land introductions with new investors:
For a given target investor, identify which of their portfolio founders have previously raised from one of your existing investors. On investor profiles, this is clearly shown on the Access > Portfolio Founders tab:
You can request introductions to those portfolio founders of your existing investors that have previously raised from your target investors. This becomes a “highly probable” path given that your existing investors have a working relationship with the above portfolio founders.
