# Connecting Zoom to Metal Notetaker

To allow Metal Notetaker to join your Zoom meetings, you must authenticate your Zoom account using secure OAuth authorization.

Starting March 2, 2026, Zoom requires all meeting bots to be authorized via Zoom OAuth. This ensures meetings are accessed only with your explicit permission.

## Adding & Connecting Zoom

Zoom is connected directly inside Metal.

To connect Zoom:

1. Go to **Settings → Metal Notetaker**
2. Click **Connect**
3. Click **Authenticate with Zoom**
4. Approve the requested permissions in Zoom
5. You will be redirected back to Metal once connected

If Notetaker is already set up:

1. Go to **Settings → Metal Notetaker**
2. Open **Settings → Zoom**
3. Click **Authenticate with Zoom**
4. Approve permissions

Once authenticated, Zoom is successfully connected.

Without authentication:

* The Notetaker cannot join meetings
* Zoom transcripts and summaries will not be generated

## How It Works

* After authorization, Zoom OAuth tokens are securely stored.
* Metal does not store your Zoom password.
* Once authorized, the Notetaker bot can join investor calls on your behalf.
* The bot joins designated investor calls only.
* During the meeting, the bot records and transcribes the session.
* After the meeting ends, transcripts are processed by Metal.
* Metal generates:
  * Structured notes
  * Intelligent summaries
  * Insights on what went well
  * Feedback on what could have gone better
  * Suggestions for improvement for future investor calls

No additional prerequisites are required beyond Zoom authentication.

## Removing Zoom Access

You can disconnect Zoom at any time inside Metal.

To disconnect:

1. Go to **Settings → Metal Notetaker**
2. Open **Settings**
3. Navigate to the **Zoom** section
4. Click **Disconnect**

After disconnection:

* All Zoom OAuth tokens are removed.
* The Notetaker will no longer join future meetings.
* Previously generated notes and transcripts remain in your Metal workspace.

Data retention:

* Meeting data is retained while the user account remains active.
* In accordance with GDPR, all user data is **<u>permanently deleted</u>** when the user deletes their Metal account.
